You settle and listen
Find a quiet ten or twenty minutes, put headphones on, and let a calm voice guide your attention. Nothing is asked of you but to listen.
The method
It is not a stage act, and you are never asleep or under anyone's control. It is a focused, deeply relaxed state — one you already pass through every day — used to practise a calmer way of responding.
In plain language
If you have ever been so absorbed in a book or a drive home that time slipped, you have been in something close to this state. Guided hypnotherapy simply makes it deliberate, and uses it to rehearse the change you want.
Your attention narrows, your body settles, and your mind becomes more open to considering things differently. Nothing is forced. You stay aware, you keep your judgement, and you can stop at any point.
What makes it useful is repetition. A single session can feel calming; returning to the same session over a few weeks is where most people notice their reactions starting to shift.
How it works
Every guided session follows the same gentle arc.
Find a quiet ten or twenty minutes, put headphones on, and let a calm voice guide your attention. Nothing is asked of you but to listen.
The session begins by slowing your breathing and easing physical tension — the same settled state you pass through on the way to sleep.
While you are relaxed and focused, the session offers gentle suggestions — calmer responses, kinder self-talk, steadier habits.
You come back to normal awareness whenever you choose. Most people simply feel rested, and the practice builds with repetition.
Safety
For most people, guided relaxation is a safe, everyday practice — but it is wellbeing support, not treatment.
You cannot be made to do anything against your values, you are not unconscious, and you can end a session whenever you like. The most common side effect is feeling relaxed enough to fall asleep.
This is general wellbeing information and support — not medical advice, psychological care, diagnosis, or a substitute for medical, psychological or addiction treatment. If something feels acute or urgent, please speak to your GP or local emergency services. Please don’t listen while driving.
